Music Box students can audition to join our Band Program. We accept applications and hold auditions throughout the year.
Imagine friends, siblings and/or parents playing together, mastering different instruments; or perfect strangers bonding over a favorite song and becoming fast friends. Wether you play keys, guitar, bass, drums or sing - the opportunity to play, learn, make music & perform together is transformative.
Bands meet weekly for either a 60- and 90-minute rehearsal
Staffed with a dedicated music director, performance coach, booking agent, admin, marketer and manager, the Program features:
Over 70 meets (equivalent to over 120 music instruction hours) between rehearsals, recording sessions, team building events & performances every year
Multiple Band performances at Music Box schools (Germantown and Collierville), as well as on larger stages around town
Aspirational Band Level Tiers (School Band, Concert Band, Show Band and an All-Star Band) with corresponding curriculums & performance requirements

Bands progresses through the Tiers as a unit, but Program administrators may sometimes choose to move band members up and down the Band Tiers individually.

Music Box believes that there are tremendous benefits to belonging to a Band:
Students learn how to work as team, work through challenges as a team and win as a team, while strengthening emotional intelligence skills through positive social interactions
Band grows together, building an individual and collective identity, and develops through the experience of various public performances
Band members not only perfect their musicianship, but also build onto their self-awareness, communications, leadership and adaptability skills
In addition to educators instruction, students learn from and coach each other, reflect on failure and perfect their skills
Band practices are a fun and exciting way to make new friends, network and grow as an individual and a musician

The Music Box Band Program gives students the opportunity to learn and perform together as a real band. Students develop their musical skills while gaining experience playing with other musicians, preparing for performances, and working toward common goals.

Students can participate on a variety of instruments, including guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and vocals. We help students find the role that best fits their interests and current skill level.

Not necessarily. Students with different levels of experience can participate. We work with each student according to their current abilities and help them grow as musicians.

Students are placed into groups based on factors such as age, experience, instrument, musical interests, and availability. Our goal is to create a group where students can learn and work well together.

Band members meet regularly for group rehearsals. The rehearsal schedule depends on the band's availability and performance schedule.
